“Disgusting speech, Shameful Session” Netanyahu in Congress

Secretary-General of the Palestinian National Initiative Dr. Mustafa Barghouti, described Netanyahu’s speech as disgusting in a shameful session of the US Congress, which accepted to host and give a platform to the war criminal Netanyahu, who is committing crimes of genocide, ethnic cleansing, collective punishment and starvation in Gaza as reported in the Jo24.net website.

Barghouti added that the civilization he speaks of led to the martyrdom of 48,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including 17,000 children, amputation of the hands and feet of 1,200 Palestinian children and the displacement of two million Palestinians after the demolition of their homes.

He said: “This is not civilization, but decadence.”

Barghouti said Netanyahu’s speech was full of lies, even surpassing the Nazi propagandist Goebbels, especially when he claimed that Israel was delivering aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip while the whole world know that is a lie.

“Unfortunately, the US Congress witnessed a disgusting speech by Netanyahu in a shameful session in support of a war criminal, which was boycotted by honorable American representatives who are not subject to the Israeli lobby’s money, and thousands of supporters of the Palestinian struggle demonstrated against it, including thousands of American Jewish protesters who refuse to support Israel with weapons and who call for the freedom of Palestine.”

Barghouti pointed out Netanyahu has made himself and Israel a symbol of reactionism, fundamentalist racism, and a barbaric colonial mentality, and has practiced dangerous propaganda to spread Islamophobia.

Barghouti warned of the danger of Netanyahu’s plan of what he call “the next day for Gaza,” which includes “continuing the aggression against Gaza, maintaining the Israeli occupation there, establishing an entity that is an agent of the occupation…and continuing to use normalization with Arab countries to liquidate the Palestinian issue and restructure Palestinian consciousness to submit to the occupation.”

Barghouti stressed confronting Netanyahu’s vision would be through the rapid implementation of what was stated in the Beijing Declaration, especially the formation of a national reconciliation government that would foil Netanyahu’s tricks and plans and consolidate the unity of the West Bank, Gaza Strip and Jerusalem,” he concluded.

Fires Rage in Israel

Fires are raging in Israel. Flames have started in the West Jerusalem hills and are feared to be creeping into northern and mass Israel with around 119 fire crews, 10 firefighting planes, and a helicopter deployed to attempt to extinguish the blaze according to The Jerusalem Post.

Israel has asked for international help especially from countries like Italy, Greece, Croatia, Cyprus and Bulgaria to attempt to put down the raging fires that are spreading because of high winds. Later reports, and with the inability to contain the fires, Israel called for more help from England, France, Czech Republic, Sweden, Argentina, Spain, North Macedonia, and Azerbaijan.

The wild fires that started, Wednesday, are trending on the social media with images and videos of what are seen as apocalyptic scenes never seen before in Israel. The blazes, starting from the hills of western Jerusalem have spread to the areas of Tel Aviv in the north with up to eight Israeli municipalities affected with one blogger simply saying “Israel is burning.”

Reports show that people on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv Highway abandoning their cars and running across the wilderness, anywhere, away from the raging fires consuming forests and natural habitats. Reports also suggest that 10,000 Israeli have been evacuated by over-worked Israeli firefighters who fear the battle will be long.

The highway as well as trains between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv have since been closed because of the consuming danger.

As soon as they started, Israeli government officials quickly declared a national state of emergency as raging fires spread to settlements and military bases near Jerusalem with soldiers caught in the blazes with reports that blazes raged in 29 locations such as Nataf, Eshtaol, Ramat Raziel, Giv’at Ye’arim, and Kisalon.

The fires from Jerusalem have also moved south and west due to the raging winds and weather conditions with the Israeli army being deployed to assist firefighting teams as the fires latched on to cars and other vehicles. New blazes have been reported to as far away as in Ashkelon, Ashdod and its port and bordering to the so-called Gaza envelope the territory that houses Jewish settlements and military basis.

The speed winds in Israel are expected to increase dramatically in the coming hours and days with Israeli hospitals recording 12 injuries so far due to smoke inhalation and burns. For the first time in 77 years, Israeli local councils have canceled so-called Independence Day celebrations that is when Israel was created in 1948 on Palestinians lands.

Nobody really knows how the fires have started while Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir rushed to accuse local Palestinians of arson but this is hearsay.

Israel Fears Hamas Ambushes in Gaza

The Palestinian resistance has begun to translate into reality the warnings issued by the Israeli occupation army, a few days ago, of the possible escalation of operations against its forces inside the Gaza Strip, according to military expert Major-General Fayez al-Duwairi.

Al-Duwairi explained on Al Jazeera the military operations in al-Tuffah area, east of Gaza City, the “Breaking the Sword” ambush east of Beit Hanoun, followed by another ambush in the same location falls within the context of these warnings.

He said the resistance is still able to survive because of the method of battle it is waging and adapting to the movements of the Israeli army. He noted the resistance forces “are not operationally offensive, but rather tactically offensive…”

Al-Duwairi’s statement comes after the Hamas al-Qassam Brigades, announced, Sunday, it detonated an anti-personnel bomb targeting a number of Israeli soldiers, confirming they were killed and wounded east of the al-Tuffah neighborhood.

As the Qassam Brigades announced the targeting of an Israeli Merkava 4 tank with an Al-Yassin 105 missile east of Tuffah, the Al-Quds Brigades of Islamic Jihad targeted a military barracks and a number of Israeli soldiers in a house with a guided missile.

The military expert emphasized the resistance factions maintain a high level of preparedness, “albeit varying from one battalion to another,” in his comment on the intensification of operations against the Israeli army.

According to Al-Duwairi, the new Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir came up with exaggerated expectations and an approximation of “zero losses,” based on the deployment of forces in the buffer zone and then a cautious and gradual advance under intense fire.

But, the resistance began targeting Israeli forces and vehicles with ambushes and anti-personnel and anti-tank missiles as the Israeli army began to deepen its incursion into built-up areas and their rubble.

A few days ago, the Israeli Walla news website quoted military sources as saying the Israeli army reinforced its defenses at its military positions in the area.

According to these sources, the army warns of a possible escalation of Hamas operations against its forces, as the movement’s militants are expected to launch guerrilla-style operations.

The Israeli army estimates, according to Walla, that Hamas is likely to launch targeted sniper attacks, ambushes, and other complex operations.
