Francesca  Albanese Calls For Suspending Israel in The UN

UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine Francesca Albanese recommends “suspending” the membership of the occupying state, Israel, in the United Nations until it stops violating international laws against Palestine.

She made these comments at a press conference,  Wednesday, at the UN headquarters in New York, when she presented her report titled “Situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem,” on Israeli violations against the Palestinians.

Albanese highlighted the violence committed by Israel and the Israeli settlers who seized Palestinian lands extends beyond the Gaza Strip.

She pointed to the escalation of “ethnic cleansing and racist movements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.”

At the press conference, the UN Special Rapporteur said: “I recommend considering and/or suspending Israel’s membership in the UN until it stops violating international laws and ends the occupation.”

She explained the “genocidal attacks” launched by Israel against the Palestinians are clearly illegal, referring to the decisions of the International Court of Justice on this issue.

“Israel has no right to exist in the occupied Palestinian territories

The International Court of Justice ordered Israel to withdraw its military presence completely, unconditionally and as soon as possible, dismantle settlements, stop seizing natural resources in the occupied Palestinian territories, and pay compensation,” she added.

Albanese stressed that according to the decisions of the International Court of Justice, Israel must withdraw from the Palestinian territories by September of next year at the latest.

She asked: “The question is: What is the United States doing to ensure Israel’s compliance with the interim measures taken by the International Court of Justice?”

The Israeli occupation army, supported by the United States and Europe, continues its aggression on the Gaza Strip for the second year in a row, where its warplanes bomb the vicinity of hospitals, buildings, towers and homes of Palestinian civilians and destroy them over the heads of their residents, and prevent the entry of water, food, medicine and fuel.

The aggression left about 145,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and elderly people, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
