Israel Kills at Least 5 Journalists in 24 Hours

Five journalists were killed in the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours according to local sources. They were part of the 23 Palestinians killed by Israeli strikes in a single day.

The five journalists are Saad Madooh, Adeeb Sukkar, Amjad Al Jahjouh, Wafa Abu Dhubaan and Rizeq Abu Shikyan. Rami Abdu points out these were killed in the past 12 hours.

The last to be killed by an Israeli airstrike on the Nusseirat camp  was Abu Shikyan. The camp in lacated in the central Gaza Strip.

At the same time Amjad Jahjouh and his wife Wafa Abu Dhubaan were killed with their child and seven others in another Israeli strike on Nuseirat.

Because of the rapid developments on the ground in Gaza news, is coming fast. In the last 24 hours more journalists in Gaza may have died. The name of Mohammad Al Sakani was also reported to have been killed in the last 24 hours. He was a young journalist from Al Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza city.

The Government Media Office in Gaza states the latest killings mean the number of journalists assassinated by the Israeli occupation army jumps to 150 since 7 October, 2023.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) sounded the alarm on Saturday over a rapidly escalating humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

“All basic supplies are running out in Gaza. It means babies, children are going to bed hungry,” Juliette Touma, the agency’s director of communications, said in a statement.

“Six weeks into the Israeli-imposed siege blocking the entry of aid and commercial supplies, food stocks are nearly gone, bakeries closed, and hunger is spreading,” the agency also noted.

The UNRWA emphasized that “immediate action is needed to prevent a deepening humanitarian crisis.”

The Israeli army renewed a deadly assault on Gaza on March 18, shattering the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January.

More than 50,900 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed in Gaza in a brutal Israeli onslaught since October 2023.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
