The Palestinian resistance has begun to translate into reality the warnings issued by the Israeli occupation army, a few days ago, of the possible escalation of operations against its forces inside the Gaza Strip, according to military expert Major-General Fayez al-Duwairi.
Al-Duwairi explained on Al Jazeera the military operations in al-Tuffah area, east of Gaza City, the “Breaking the Sword” ambush east of Beit Hanoun, followed by another ambush in the same location falls within the context of these warnings.
He said the resistance is still able to survive because of the method of battle it is waging and adapting to the movements of the Israeli army. He noted the resistance forces “are not operationally offensive, but rather tactically offensive…”
Al-Duwairi’s statement comes after the Hamas al-Qassam Brigades, announced, Sunday, it detonated an anti-personnel bomb targeting a number of Israeli soldiers, confirming they were killed and wounded east of the al-Tuffah neighborhood.
As the Qassam Brigades announced the targeting of an Israeli Merkava 4 tank with an Al-Yassin 105 missile east of Tuffah, the Al-Quds Brigades of Islamic Jihad targeted a military barracks and a number of Israeli soldiers in a house with a guided missile.
The military expert emphasized the resistance factions maintain a high level of preparedness, “albeit varying from one battalion to another,” in his comment on the intensification of operations against the Israeli army.
According to Al-Duwairi, the new Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir came up with exaggerated expectations and an approximation of “zero losses,” based on the deployment of forces in the buffer zone and then a cautious and gradual advance under intense fire.
But, the resistance began targeting Israeli forces and vehicles with ambushes and anti-personnel and anti-tank missiles as the Israeli army began to deepen its incursion into built-up areas and their rubble.
A few days ago, the Israeli Walla news website quoted military sources as saying the Israeli army reinforced its defenses at its military positions in the area.
According to these sources, the army warns of a possible escalation of Hamas operations against its forces, as the movement’s militants are expected to launch guerrilla-style operations.
The Israeli army estimates, according to Walla, that Hamas is likely to launch targeted sniper attacks, ambushes, and other complex operations.
The Government Media in Gaza: It states that famine has become a reality once again with 52 deaths due to hunger and malnutrition, including 50 children.
Israel restarted its war on Gaza as of 19 March, 2025. Since then it has blocked all aid entering the Gaza Strip.

This scene is not a cinematic one: It is a true story that happened in early April and documented by Moroccan doctor Youssef Bouabdallah on his Instagram account. He is visiting Gaza to provide medical care to the wounded.

This bloody scenario is among dozens of scenes of ongoing slaughter, expertly orchestrated by Israel and supported by the United States, which has claimed the lives of more than 50,846 martyrs and injured 115,729 since 7 October, 2023.
Flying Bodies and Remains
If the world’s ears cannot comprehend the murderous scenarios being tested by the Israeli occupation army on the residents of the besieged Gaza Strip, the Dar al-Arqam School massacre in Gaza City is proof of this, adding to the open record of genocidal crimes.

Palestinian platforms documented the horrific massacre committed by the occupation army on 3 April and what they said showed the moment the bodies of residents blown to pieces by the violent shelling of a school housing displaced persons.
The people of Gaza, especially, cannot get over the sight of bodies being blown apart by the bombing, asserting what they are experiencing is not a war, but “a slow annihilation in which the apocalypse is being perpetrated on earth, without accountability, scale, or justice. While bodies are being torn apart and souls are being scattered, the world is content to count and remain silent.”
To emphasize this, activist Ahmed Al-Khalidi addresses “the complacent” who are surprised by the evacuations of Gaza’s residents by the bombing. He recounts some of the stories of those whose bodies were blown to the top of nearby buildings, those whose remains disappeared and were scattered into the unknown, those who were completely annihilated, and those who were blown away but survived.
Al-Khalidi says in his post: “We found the remains of our neighbors in our house after their six-story home was bombed. The explosion scattered everything: bodies, rubble, and memories.”
He adds: “I once asked a friend who was rescued alive from under the rubble of his house, ‘How did it feel?’ He replied, ‘When the missile exploded, I felt like I’d fallen into a deep hole, spinning violently, but I emerged alive and well.'” He confirms that the same person was later martyred along with his wife and children in a separate bombing.
Psychologist Dr. Saeed Al-Kahlout adds to similar stories, saying: “My martyred sister’s body flew away in one bombing, passing over two buildings and a street, while her husband was found two days later in a nearby neighborhood.”
He continues in a Facebook post: “At the beginning of the war, following a bombing on our neighbors’ house, the neighborhood residents found the body of a martyr, still lying on her bed, on the fifth floor of a building adjacent to the blind martyr’s house. People explained the event by saying, ‘Angels carried her and fled with her to a safe place. She was sound asleep.'”
The new phase of the Israeli war, since its resumption on 18 March, appears to be more bloody and criminal. The occupation army has killed 1,482 Palestinians and injured 3,688, according to data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
Gaza residents are witnessing more intense bombardment and a more intense rate of killing, as if the Israeli occupation army is using the Strip as a testing ground for its lethal military weapons, following its violation of the ceasefire agreement concluded with the resistance last January.
Al-Kahlout links the scenes of bodies of martyrs flying to the violent bombardment, saying: “The force of the explosions we are witnessing in this war makes me say that bodies are trying to save themselves by fleeing, even if they fly outside the circle of fire, to escape the hell… The sound of the explosion is as if the sky has split open in its wrath, shaking the ground beneath our feet and deafening our ears until we hear nothing but the howling of fear inside our heads.”
Fear and Panic
Blogger Abu Ghaith Yaghi calls on the world to talk about “dying Gaza” and the difficult nights the residents are experiencing, while “Israel is testing new types of bombs and missiles.”
While activist Mohammed Al-Akashiya asks on his account, “What are they (the occupation) throwing at us?” due to the sounds of shelling reverberating throughout the area, another asserts that the wave of explosions and shelling is terrifying and unprecedented.
Activist Mohammed Haniyeh believes that most of the missiles used after the renewed genocide are different from those before, and have a massive blast wave. He adds: “We now hear the echo of the explosion for a longer period of time. It doesn’t stop instantly, but rather the sound seems to extend and spread, coinciding with earthquakes that last for seconds.”
The missiles launched by the Houthis at Israel do not make a significant military difference, according to military expert Major-General Fayez al-Duwairi. However, he said they confirm the failure of the US airstrikes to destroy the group’s capabilities and reveal the contradictions in Israeli statements regarding the interception of these missiles.
In an analysis of the military situation on Al Jazeera, al-Duwairi asserts that the Israeli military’s statement about the interception of the missile launched, Monday, before it entered Israeli airspace contradicts its statement about interceptor debris falling west of Jerusalem and south of Tel Aviv.
The fact that these debris fell on these areas, in al-Duwairi’s opinion, means that the missile bypassed Israeli air defenses, whilst confirming the Houthis’ possession of sonic missile technology. He added that this is something not many countries possess.

The fact that air raid sirens sounded only in Jerusalem and greater Tel Aviv, but not in the rest of Israel, confirms that the missile was not detected until it reached these specific areas, al-Duwairi said.
Confusion in Israeli Society
Whilst the Houthi missiles will not bring about a military change, according to the strategic expert, they put Israeli society on almost daily alert, disrupting daily life, and proving that the intensive US air campaign has not prevented the Houthis from launching attacks.
The Houthis’ launch of an eighth missile in just a few days demonstrates the failure of intensive US strikes to stop these attacks. The failure of Israeli defenses to detect the missiles before they entered Israeli airspace is a qualitative advantage for this Yemeni group.
As for the missiles that the Palestinian resistance has begun launching in the past few days, they carry more political than military messages, according to al-Duwairi, because it is impossible to compare the resistance’s capabilities today with those of the beginning of the war nearly 18 months ago.
However, the resistance’s ability to bombard greater Tel Aviv, as it did two days ago, confirms that it has a stockpile of missiles capable of causing disruption within Israel.
Yesterday evening, the Israeli Home Front Command announced that air raid sirens sounded in Jerusalem and its suburbs, as well as in more than 200 towns and cities in central Israel, as a result of a missile launched from Yemen.
The Israeli military said it intercepted the missile with its Arrow missile system before it entered airspace. However, sources confirmed to Al Jazeera that explosions were heard in areas of Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and the coastal region south of Tel Aviv following the launch of a missile from Yemen.
Military strategic expert Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi said the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army from the Netzarim axis represents a strategic shift in battle with its plan to divide and control the Gaza Strip from its north failing.
Al-Duwairi explained the Israeli occupation army tried to establish a permanent presence in the area but was forced to retreat under the pressure of battles and political agreements.
Speaking on Al Jazeera, Al-Duwairi added the occupation expanded the Netzarim axis to reach a width of 80 kilometers and a depth of between 6.5 and 7 kilometers, and established four main sites supported by four other supporting sites.
He pointed out although the occupation army began to establish infrastructure to enhance the sustainability of its presence, most of its facilities were dismantled, reflecting its awareness of the possibility of withdrawal at any moment.
He explained the recent agreement imposes on it to withdraw from Netzarim permanently. As well the military expert stressed that Israel will neither be able to remain in the Philadelphi Corridor or the buffer zone later.
A different reality
He pointed out that the Israeli plan was initially aimed at controlling the northern areas of Gaza but the resistance made sure this didn’t happen and imposed a different reality which forced the Zionist army to recalculate.
Al-Duwairi indicated that the occupation may try to procrastinate or delay the implementation of the withdrawal, but in the end it is obliged to evacuate the site on the 22nd day of the deal.
Regarding the withdrawal, he explained this move will facilitate the movement of citizens, especially in light of the siege imposed by the occupation’s control of the corridor.
However, he stressed the most important thing is to restore sovereignty – even partially – to the Palestinians, indicating the current scene is radically different from the calculations of the occupation, which wanted to impose a new political reality.
He considered the withdrawal is not just a military step, but carries political and strategic dimensions, as it reflects the failure of the Israeli vision for Gaza and confirms the will of the resistance and negotiation to impose new equations on the ground.
The ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement in Gaza went into effect on 19 January and includes three stages, each lasting 42 days. During the first, negotiations will be held to start a second stage, then a third, with the mediation of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States according to Jo24.
