‘This is How Israel is Moving The US Along’

By Jamal Kanj

Netanyahu’s manipulation of the ceasefire agreement and US complicity in extending phase one reveal Israel’s ongoing strategy to delay peace and continue its genocidal actions against Palestinians.

The three-phase ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Resistance, while offering a fleeting glimmer of hope for ending Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza, was never likely to succeed. Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to break the ceasefire by blocking food and medical aid from entering Gaza—furthering war-crime starvation—was not a matter of “if” but “when.”

The ceasefire agreement was carefully designed to be implemented in three distinct phases, each to be implemented sequentially, with the oversight and verbal guarantees from the three key mediators: the United States, Qatar, and Egypt.

The integrity of the agreement hinges on the mediators’ ability to ensure that all parties remain fully committed to honoring its terms. Otherwise, what credibility would the mediators’ signatures or the mediation process hold if Netanyahu could simply demand to renegotiate an agreement that took at least 8 months to finalize?

Netanyahu is leading negotiations on two conflicting fronts: one with the Resistance to exchange Israeli captives for Palestinian hostages held in Israeli dungeons, and second with the racist warmonger’s wing in his government.

In preparation to break the agreement, and to placate his warmonger ministers, Netanyahu changed the negotiating team for phase two by replacing the heads of Mossad and Shaback with his alter ego, Ron Dermer, minister of strategic affairs. Dermer, who during a war cabinet meeting in mid-October 2023, told US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, “There won’t be a humanitarian crises [sic] in Gaza if no civilians are there.”

Talks for the second phase were scheduled to start the first week of February, but Israel did not show up at the negotiation table. In a desperate bid to buy time and secure American support, Netanyahu dispatched Dermer to Washington over a week ago. His mission: to sell the idea of renegotiating the current agreement and extend the first phase.

This tactic is emblematic of Netanyahu’s broader strategy— exploiting diplomatic engagements to maintain the status quo, buying time and maximizing the number of released Israeli captives by extending phase one before finishing his genocide war and ethnic cleansing in Gaza.

The timing is no coincidence. With growing international scrutiny mounting over Israel’s genocide in Gaza and the West Bank, Netanyahu is investing in Washington’s habitual deference to Israeli demands. By stalling negotiations, Netanyahu hopes to delay difficult political reckonings required in phase two, mainly ending the Israeli blockade and aggression on Gaza.

The Trump administration complied with Netanyahu’s request, pledging to dispatch its Middle East special envoy, Steve Witkoff, to renegotiate the current ceasefire agreement and floating an Israeli demand to extend phase one for an additional 50 days. Trump’s decision to heed the Israeli prime minister’s  request so swiftly only serves to validate Netanyahu’s view of the US when he was caught on tape back in 2001 saying that “America is a thing you can move very easily.”

By acquiescing to Netanyahu’s maneuvering, Trump not only reinforced this perception but also risked undermining his own standing as a world leader. The pattern of deference to Israeli interests continues to resonate as a stark reflection of the bizarre dynamics in US-Israel relations, where America’s Middle East foreign policy is exclusively franchised to Israel and its Washington Jewish lobby.

Netanyahu’s latest scheme is a reminder that as long as Washington remains willing to be “moved” at Israel’s convenience, meaningful progress toward peace will remain unattainable. Rather than acting as an impartial mediator, the US continues to function as a complicit enabler, reinforcing the very power imbalances that perpetuate Israeli depravity and Palestinian adversity.

In endorsing Netanyahu’s demand to renegotiate the existing agreement rather than negotiating an end of war in phase two, the Trump administration is effectively empowering Netanyahu’s prevarications. This allows Israel to prolong Palestinians’ suffering while appearing to engage in negotiations. In reality, the extension serves as a tool for Netanyahu to consolidate his power amid domestic political turmoil, neutralize international pressure, and further cement Israel’s occupation and apartheid policies.

By backing Netanyahu’s decision to halt humanitarian aid to Gaza—Trump, much like his predecessor—kowtows to Netanyahu’s wishes. America’s willingness to leverage its global influence in service of Israel is a major factor in the increasingly rigid Israeli position, enabling a racist Jewish government more invested in maintaining the status quo than in seeking genuine peace. Israeli intransigence is not merely an oversight—it is a deliberate policy intended to maintain Palestinian dispossession, statelessness, and subjugation.

Israel has also violated the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon by failing to fully withdraw from Lebanese territory within the 60-day timeframe stipulated under the American and French-mediated agreement. Additionally, it has breached the decades-old ceasefire treaty with Syria, launching countless air raids and occupying the buffer zone and army positions along the border.

Israel’s willingness to violate every agreement it signs is not a failure of diplomacy—it is a direct result of enabling a war criminal who has shown time and again that his only path forward is through bloodshed. If the international community truly seeks an end to this genocide, it must stop treating Netanyahu as a legitimate partner in peace and start holding him accountable for his crimes.

By denying Palestinians their agency and as long as Washington remains beholden to an Israel-centric foreign policy—shaped by doomsday messianic Christians and the Jewish lobby—Tel Aviv will continue to perpetuate repression, sustain aggression, and ensure the failure of phase two.

Houthis Arrest US-Israeli ‘Spy Ring’

The Houthis announced, Wednesday, the arrest of a number of spies in Yemen who were working for the Israeli Mossad intelligence agency and the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

The Israelis and Americans are still to comment on this.

The Houthi movement said in a statement on the Al-Masirah satellite TV chanell that that “the security services were able, in the past few days, to arrest a number (unspecified) of spies, who were recruited and recruited by the wanted spy Hamid Hussein Fayed Majli”.

It explained the Mossad and CIA assigned these spies several tasks, the most prominent of which is “monitoring and collecting information about experts, laboratories, platforms, and vehicles for the launching of missiles and drones targeting the Zionist enemy, and the locations and sites of naval forces, camps, and weapons depots”.

The Houthis added that the tasks of these spies also included the “monitoring and collecting of information about the locations of its leader, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, and “some political, military and security leaders of the state, and social figures opposed to the Israeli and American enemy.”

It pointed out that these spies were asked to provide the coordinates of these places and sites to the spy Hamid Majli “so that he would in turn provide them to the Mossad for the purpose of targeting them by the enemy’s American, Israeli and British aircraft.”

These spies were also tasked, according to the same statement, with “working to try to penetrate, recruit and plant agents and spies in the ranks of the armed forces and security.”

The group indicated that “the enemy’s intelligence wants, through espionage activities, to obstruct the position of the Yemeni people supporting Gaza by targeting its military forces and leaders.”

It warned “of the danger of working for the American and Israeli intelligence services, the penalty for which is execution.”

And “in solidarity with Gaza” by confronting the ongoing Israeli war of genocide on the Strip since 7 October, 2023, which has led to the killing and wounding of more than 153,000 Palestinians, the Houthi group has been targeting Israeli or related cargo ships in the Red Sea with missiles and drones since November of the same year.

In response to these attacks, Washington and London have been launching air strikes and missile attacks on Houthi sites in Yemen since the beginning of this year, which the group responded to by announcing that it now considers all American and British ships among its military targets, and expanding its attacks to ships passing through the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean or any place its weapons can reach.

The Houthi group also launches missile and drone attacks on Israel from time to time, some of which have targeted Tel Aviv, and stipulates that stopping its attacks requires ending the Israeli war of extermination on Gaza according to Anadolu.

Israel Admits Iran Strikes Damaged Its Airbases

The Israeli military acknowledged, Wednesday, the Iranian missile strike on Tuesday evening caused damage to its air bases, but downplayed its significance and did not disclose their locations.

Israeli Army Radio said several air force bases were damaged in the Iranian attack, but “there was no damage to their infrastructure.”

Israeli news platforms also quoted the military as saying that there were no injuries to aircraft or weapons, and the military denied Iran had fired supersonic missiles in its attack on Israel.

Anadolu Agency quoted an Israeli military source as saying that the missiles “caused damage to administrative buildings (inside the air bases)… in the shell, not in the core.”

The source refused to disclose the damaged sites, saying: “There is no damage to continuity or follow-up plans, and the evidence is that the aircraft landed and took off from all the bases.”

The same source also denied that any Israelis were injured in the Iranian attack.

Targeting Mossad Headquarters

Earlier, the American website Axios quoted an Israeli military official as saying that dozens of Iranian missiles were fired at the headquarters of the Foreign Intelligence Service (Mossad) in Tel Aviv, but he said none of them fell inside the complex.

Also, CNN said that an analysis of video clips showed that an Iranian missile exploded less than one kilometer from the Mossad headquarters.

Iran launched a barrage of missiles at Israel, Tuesday evening, in an attack it said was in response to the assassination of the head of the Hamas political bureau  Ismail Haniyeh, Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, and commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, Abbas Nilforoushan.

Following the strike Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian warned: “if the Zionists make any mistakes, they will receive a stronger and more destructive response.”

Iranian Chief of Staff General Mohammad Bagheri revealed that the strike targeted three main air bases and a Mossad headquarters.

He said among them were the Nevatim base, which houses F-35 fighter jets, and the Hatzerim base, which he said was responsible for the assassination of Nasrallah, adding that the attack targeted radars and a gathering of tanks and armored personnel carriers in the Gaza Strip.

Israel imposes strict media censorship on what is published about its losses, in light of its war on Gaza, which has been ongoing for about a year, and its current attack on Lebanon, which is the largest since the 2006 war according to Al Jazeera.

French Daily Claims Iranian Spy Spilled The Beans on Hassan Nasrallah

The French newspaper “Le Parisien” claimed that “an Iranian spy informed Israel of the news of the arrival of the Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah to the southern suburb of Beirut following the funeral of the leader of the party’s drone unit, Mohammed Sorur, and that the deputy commander of the Quds Force in Lebanon, Abbas Nilforoushan, was with him in the same car.

The newspaper reported “Israel waited for Nasrallah’s meeting with the party’s leaders to begin before carrying out the raid,” revealing that “Nasrallah and the party’s leaders met in a location 30 meters underground.

In addition to Nasrallah and the deputy commander of the Iranian Quds Force, 12 senior Hezbollah officials attended the meeting.”

The Israeli Channel 12 reported “the commander of the Lebanese region in Israeli military intelligence was the one who ordered the raid on Nasrallah, who was inside an underground hole in the southern suburb.” The channel said that “the same official was at the army headquarters in Tel Aviv during the execution,” adding: “The raid on the suburb was planned in advance due to information built over the years by the Shin Bet and Mossad.”

The attack began after the Israeli Air Force dropped 80 MK84 bunker-busting bombs, each weighing one ton, according to a report by the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, while each bomb is capable of penetrating fortifications at a depth of 50 to 70 meters underground.

It was “Unit 119’, known as ‘the Bat’ in the Israeli Air Force that carried out the operation, while the aircrafts that carried out the attack are of the F-15 variety.

According to Israeli Channel 13, Hezbollah’s main headquarters is located on the 14th floor underground as reported by Jordan24 based on a report from Al Quds Al Arabi.

Duwairi: Israel Not in Position For ‘Ground War’

Military expert Major-General Fayez Al-Duwairi said the Lebanese Hezbollah’s bombing of the Mossad headquarters in Tel Aviv is a qualitative but a disciplined shift so that things do not develop into a large-scale ground battle both sides are trying to avoid so far.

Earlier Wednesday, Hezbollah announced targeting the Mossad headquarters in the suburbs of Tel Aviv with a “Qader I” ballistic missile, in a precedent move since the beginning of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip about a year ago.

The party stated it targeted Mossad headquarters because it “is responsible for assassinating leaders and blowing up communication devices.”

According to Al-Duwairi, the party did not target Tel Aviv directly but rather targeted a military headquarters responsible for blowing up the pagers, which means it is an operation similar to the assassinations carried out by Israel in the Beirut suburb.

Therefore, he believes that the targetting does not mean bringing Tel Aviv into the unfolding battle, saying current Israel’s operations in Lebanon do not aim to destroy the suburb randomly. He added this reflects the keenness of both parties not to escalate in a way that leads to an open ground war, even if the comprehensive war is already underway.

No ground war yet

He explained the ground operation is the missing part of the comprehensive war between the two sides, suggesting Israel will continue to maintain this situation for another period in the hope of breaking Hezbollah’s will and subjecting it to its dictates.

He said Israel is using the Gaza Strip approach in Lebanon, but warned that the military solution will not be achieved and that Hezbollah will not retreat beyond the Litani River as Israel wants.

Al-Duwairi described Hezbollah’s operations as a war of pressure on the Israeli economy and society and not a war of attrition, noting the latter is based on targeting the civilian and military dimensions and that will only be completed through a ground confrontation.

He expected that a ground war would only break out if Netanyahu felt that the current pressure would not force Hezbollah to retreat. However, he pointed out that Israel previously remained in the Litani area for 20 years and was forced to leave due to the Lebanese resistance.

Hezbollah must rely on itself

He said the situation in southern Lebanon is completely different from Gaza, noting that Hezbollah will not deploy its forces on every square meter but will rely on the combat contracts that will grant it the desired victory in the end, because a ground confrontation means great losses for the occupation army.

Regarding Hezbollah’s strengths in a ground war, Al-Duwairi said they are represented in its ability to manage the battle and activate the unity of the arenas in Yemen and Iraq in an effective manner and not symbolically as is the case now according to Al Jazeera.
