Yedioth Ahronoth: 10,000 Soldiers Killed, Injured, Conscripts Angry

At least 10,000 Israeli soldiers have either been killed and/or injured the Yedioth Ahronoth pointed out Sunday.

The figure is trending on the social media with many news websites quoting the number stating that the total deaths and injured took an upward swing since 7 October, 2023 when Israel waged a war on Gaza.

The Israeli daily newspaper said some 1,000 soldiers are transferred every month to the Defense Ministry’s rehabilitation department due to injuries sustained in the Gaza war as reported by Anadolu.

“The army is suffering from a shortage of at least 10,000 soldiers killed or wounded during the long months of fighting in the Gaza Strip,” the daily said.

The newspaper explained that the Israeli Knesset began its summer vacation without legislating a law to extend compulsory military service, leaving Israeli soldiers who have been fighting in Gaza for 10 months in a state of shock and confusion.

Yedioth Ahronoth stated that this has caused “significant frustration among regular soldiers” who “are increasingly angry, especially those due for discharge next month after nearly 10 months of continuous combat.”

The daily quoted the father of a Nahal Brigade fighter in Rafah, Gaza Strip, saying: “Never before in Israeli history have soldiers fought in enemy territory under such harsh conditions for 10 months straight. Our children are deeply committed but feel ashamed to report the situation.”

The US Set to Clash With Israel Over UNRWA

In what appears to be a direct clash with the Israeli Knesset, the US government does not regard UNRWA as a “terrorism organization.”

US State Department spokesman Mathew Miller said, Wednesday “UNRWA is not a terrorist organization, and we urge the Israeli government and the Knesset to halt the movement of this legislation.”

Miller was responding to the fact that the Israeli parliament, last Monday, introduced a draft bill, in its first reading, designating UNRWA as a terrorism organization and that Israel is set to cut relations with this UN body.

“We have been clear about the important role that UNRWA plays in delivering humanitarian assistance and other critical assistance to Palestinians in Gaza – and throughout the region, not just in Gaza…the United States provides the majority of its funding for – a majority of the funding for humanitarian efforts in Gaza through the UN. We expect to continue to do so…” he added.

“…the attacks that the Israeli Government has leveled on UNRWA are incredibly unhelpful. They do nothing to advance the cause of getting humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza. So we’re going to continue to support the work that UNRWA does in the region, while also recognizing the need for reform…” he maintained.

The UN organization employs 30,000 employs working to serve 5.9 Palestinians in the region. Israel is accusing the organization of employing more than 400 terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

As a result the USA suspended its financial contribution to the agency after the Israeli accusations which were not proven by Israel.

Since then, US law has prohibited Washington from releasing funds to the agency, while several countries have resumed their contributions to the agency, including the UK, Germany, EU, Sweden, Japan, and France.

‘Israel Will No Longer Exist in 2026′ – Lieberman Warns

Former Defense Minister Avigador Lieberman deeply criticizes Israel’s handling of the war on Gaza and the current skirmish with Hezbollah in Lebanon.

“Netanyahu is leading Israel to destruction and if the current Knesset coalition continue until 2026, Israel will no longer exist,” he said in a stark way.

“Netanyahu doesn’t know how to manage anything. He is really a very talented person. He is one of the best, if not the best, marketing person in world politics, not only in Israel. He also has rhetorical ability. But his management ability aspires to zero. He is also spineless. These are his two problems. As long as things are going on their own, it’s not working. And today, nothing is going on, not on the security level, that’s what drives Netanyahu The desire to survive in power for another day, another week, that’s all,” he told Maariv.

The  comments of the leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party are trending on the social media with multiple posts.

Lieberman accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of leading Israel towards total destruction.

Lieberman is repeating what the views of many in Israel, regionally and internationally are saying about Netanyahu leading the country to disaster because of his own domestic troubles and the corruption accusations against against that will probably land hin in jail.

However, he “emphasized that Israel is facing existential threats and is undergoing a multi-dimensional crisis encompassing political, economic, and security issues—the most significant since its establishment,” as stated in the Palestine Chronicle.

Lieberman blamed Netanyahu for the attack on October 7, accusing him of empowering the Palestinian movement Hamas over the years by releasing its leaders according to the electronic website.

Over 38,000 Palestinians were killed and over 88,000 injured in Gaza by Israeli fire since 7 October, 2023.
