This is the latest painting by Mohammad Al Rakoui. It is titled “Ascent to the Skies”. He is the head of the General Union of Palestinian Visual Artists – Syria Branch. This is just one of the many paintings he has made. His latest exhibition starts on 19 September in the Hishoun Gallery in Latakia.

CROSSFIREARABIA – Nine-year-old Wafa Akila was killed in Gaza on the first day of school, Sunday. She was with her 36-year-old father Yousef who was driving her to school when an Israeli drone struck their vehicle near the Hamid intersection in west Gaza City. They were killed instantly with their death reported across the media.

Residents of Hebron’s Old City and those living near the Ibrahimi Mosque have been deprived of hearing the call to prayer for 76 days; Occupation forces have banned the call since June 21 and prevented the mosque’s muezzin from accessing the call-to-prayer chamber.
The ban coincided with the construction of a 288-square-meter iron roof over the mosque’s courtyard—ostensibly for maintenance purposes—amid ongoing restrictions on worship and violations of the status quo that has been in effect at the mosque since 1994.
