Israel Displaces 1500 in The Occupied West Bank in 2025 – UN Report

The UN on Wednesday warned that more than 1,500 Palestinians have already been displaced in the occupied West Bank in 2026, reaching 90% of the total figure recorded in 2025.

Citing the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said at a news conference that “new figures indicate that more than 180 Palestinians have been displaced due to settler attacks and access restrictions across the West Bank since the onset of the regional escalation,” bringing “the total number of Palestinians displaced within this context so far this year to more than 1,500 people, 90% of the number for all of last year.”

“Palestinians’ access to their places of work and where they receive services continues to be impeded by tightened movement restrictions imposed by Israeli security forces,” he said.

Noting that such Israeli restrictions “largely impede movements between cities and keep the iron gates at the entrances of many villages closed,” he added that “high levels of violence are persisting.”

He further stressed that “more than 40% of those displaced are children and that displacement deepens people’s reliance on humanitarian aid support and is often associated with the loss of economic livelihoods.”

OCHA called again “for the protection of Palestinians in the West Bank and for the perpetrators of violence against them to be held to account.”

On the situation in the Gaza Strip, Dujarric emphasized Israel’s “ongoing restrictions on aid operations,” which, he said, “are worsening an already critical humanitarian situation.”

“One example we can share with you today is about the growing number of generator failures in hospitals due to the lack of spare parts and lubricating oil,” he said.

Dujarric also reported “high levels of infections spread by insects that can be found in the many displacement sites throughout Gaza,” saying “nearly 23,000 suspected cases were recorded last month alone,” while “supplies of hygiene kits, insecticides and scabies treatment remain critically low, limiting our ability to respond.”

30,000 Homes in Danger of Being Demolished in The West Bank

The legal advisor for the Palestinian Authority’s Commission Against the Wall and Settlements, Ayed Marar, warned that about 30,000 Palestinian homes in the West Bank remain under threat of demolition by the Israeli occupation. This is despite existing court orders halting the demolitions. These orders are based on exploiting a legal loophole in Israeli law.

He told Quds Press, Saturday, that the recent actions taken in the northern Jordan Valley do not constitute legal building permits, but rather a temporary suspension of demolition orders. He emphasized that these measures do not provide permanent protection for the homes and/or their residents.

Marar pointed out that the occupation authorities have disregarded these injunctions in numerous instances and carried out demolitions despite their validity. This reflects the ongoing policy of targeting the Palestinian presence in Area C (under Israeli control according to the Oslo Accords) and the Jordan Valley, as part of plans aimed at restricting the lives of Palestinians and imposing further control over Palestinian land.

It should be noted that during the first half of 2026, the occupation forces carried out a total of 341 demolition operations, resulting in the destruction of 740 structures and affecting 923 Palestinians, including 546 children and 431 women. During the same period, the occupation authorities also issued demolition orders for 254 structures, claiming they lacked permits.

Eisenkot: ‘Any Deal That Doesn’t Dismantle Hamas Will Fail’

Former Israeli army chief and opposition leader Gadi Eisenkot said Friday that any agreement on Gaza that fails to dismantle Hamas’ military and governing capabilities would constitute a “complete failure” for the Israeli government.

Eisenkot’s remarks came a day after US President Donald Trump and the Board of Peace announced an agreement on the next phase of the Gaza ceasefire, which Israel has yet to officially endorse.

In a post on the US social media platform X, Eisenkot questioned whether Israel had participated in negotiating the agreement.

“There are major question marks as to whether Israel was a partner to this agreement or whether it was once again imposed on it without its participation,” he wrote.

He criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for failing to present Israelis with details of the agreement, saying any deal would ultimately be judged by whether it achieved Israel’s stated war objectives in Gaza.

“The test is whether Hamas’ military and governing capabilities are dismantled,” Eisenkot said. “Any outcome that does not achieve this objective is a complete failure.”

He added that, aside from the return of Israeli hostages, the war’s objectives had not been achieved despite what he described as the military’s battlefield gains and the heavy price paid.

Netanyahu has repeatedly said Israel’s objectives in the war are to secure the release of all hostages, dismantle Hamas’ military and governing capabilities, ensure Gaza no longer poses a threat to Israel and establish a civilian administration in the enclave that excludes Hamas.

Eisenkot also claimed that, nearly three years after the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks, Hamas had rebuilt its manpower and military capabilities, with the number of its fighters approaching pre-war levels.
