Kamel al-Budairi who was born in Jerusalem in 1886, was the owner of the Palestinian newspaper “Al-Sabah,”. He used to publish this newspaper in Jerusalem after the British occupation of Palestine during World War I. The first edition of the newspaper was in 1921.
His importance stems both for his pioneering role in Palestinian journalism and for being the first Palestinian to organize armed resistance against the British occupation of Palestine.
He rejected the British colonial project to establish a Jewish national home in Palestine and fought for its independence.
Unfortunately, al-Budairi was assassinated in 1923 while rallying support, recruiting fighters, and gathering weapons in the Arabian Peninsula for this noble cause.
