Miserable Year: Gaza Pupils Simply Have No Schools to Go to Thanks to Israel

CROSSFIREARABIA – The Gaza Human Rights Center is warning about the continuation of the collapse of the educational system in the Gaza Strip in its fourth consecutive year. It stated the wide destruction of the schools, students and teachers and educational equipment has been one of the greatest victims of the Israeli genocide meted against the people of Gaza. In a statement, Sunday, the Center said the new school year comes for Gaza in the absence of any basis of an educational framework for thousands of children amid the destruction and displacement the people of Gaza were subjected to.

It stated and according to official figures that more than 21,051 male and female students were martyred during the start of this genocidal war while 19,886 pupils are no longer in school because of displacement, continual displacement, travel, detention and or injury. It added more than 532 male and female teachers in the government and private educational sectors and in UNRWA schools were killed. Also 769 employees in the Ministry of Education were also killed.

Before 7 October, 2023, the number of children in the school stream registered at 609,751 and it was expected they would reach 665,769 by the 2026/2027 scholastic year according to natural growth rates. But no more, for the initial estimates show the number of children eligible for school education stands at 625,832 according to the genocidal war as per the Palestine Information Center.
