A Morning Whisper

Raed Al Taweel writes:

Do not belittle yourself simply because you are different from others. Every soul has its own unique role, every heart its own melody, and every personality its own message. Be true to yourself; do not become a mere shadow of someone else. God did not create identical souls; He created distinct individuals, each with a specific purpose. How beautiful it is to recognize your own worth—just as you are—rather than as others wish you to be. May your morning be filled with the certainty that your differences are not shortcomings, and that the most beautiful thing about you is precisely what makes you you. O God, grant us sincerity of soul, steadfastness of heart, and a legacy of goodness.

    Fares Odeh: Come on!

May God have mercy on the “Lion Cub of Palestine,” Fares Odeh. On October 29, 2000, an Associated Press photojournalist captured an image of Fares Odeh standing alone before a tank, a stone in his hand and his arm drawn back to throw it. Ten days later, on November 8, Odeh was again throwing stones at the Al-Muntar crossing when occupation soldiers shot him in the neck, and he fell as a martyr. Subsequently, both the boy and the photograph attained iconic status within the Palestinian territories, serving as a symbol of resistance against Israel’s occupation of the region.
I named my youngest son Fares out of love for the “Fares of Palestine.”

    Keys of Return and Hope

    From PALARTS

Created by Gazan artist Haitham Zourob, this vibrant painting powerfully captures Palestinian heritage, memory, and enduring hope. The composition centers on a figure draped in a bold red garment holding high a set of traditional keys—a universal symbol of the right of return and connection to ancestral homes. In the foreground, an elderly woman wearing a traditional white headscarf (thob) gazes out with calm, resilient determination, symbolizing the steadfastness (sumud) of older generations holding onto their history. Set against a warm, sun-drenched orange backdrop, the background features a densely layered historic town adorned with colorful domes, minarets, and palm trees. Flying above the cityscape is a prominent Palestinian flag alongside a flock of birds taking flight, evoking themes of freedom and peace. Lush green branches frame the top right, contrasting with the warm background colors to create a rich visual narrative of home, identity, and hope.
