We walk toward the water,
letting the tide take our feet, as if we are entrusting it with some of what has grown heavy within us.

There, at the quiet edge between water and land, things become a little lighter.
The heart lets go of so many names, and life becomes simpler than we once believed it could be.

Only water and sky, and faces searching for a moment of stillness.
We ask nothing of the sea, except that it remind us of what we have forgotten:

that life, at its heart, never needed to be so complicated.

It is enough to be here,
to feel the water, to look at the sky,
and to give the soul a little time to remember its way back to simplicity.

Ascend to The Skies

This is the latest painting by Mohammad Al Rakoui. It is titled “Ascent to the Skies”. He is the head of the General Union of Palestinian Visual Artists – Syria Branch. This is just one of the many paintings he has made. His latest exhibition starts on 19 September in the Hishoun Gallery in Latakia.
