On 17 December 2024, a coalition of over 1,200 Spanish jurists—including lawyers, judges, and prosecutors—gathered outside the Spanish Parliament in Madrid to present a petition urging the government to enforce a comprehensive arms embargo against “Israel”. The petition reflects growing concerns within Spain’s legal community regarding the ethical and legal implications of continuing military relations with “Israel”, particularly in light of recent conflicts and allegations of human rights violations.
This initiative aligns with a broader movement within Spain advocating for a reassessment of its military engagements with “Israel”. Notably, Spain had previously suspended arms sales to “Israel” in October 2023, a decision reaffirmed by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who has called on the international community to halt arms exports to “Israel” to prevent further escalation in the region according to the Safa Press Agency.
At a press conference in parliament yesterday, Jorge Pueyo declared his support for a hunger strike initiated on 19 November by the Aragon Palestine House and the Jerusalem Association in his constituency, the country’s autonomous region of Aragon.
He confirmed that he began his hunger strike yesterday in solidarity with Palestine and will continue it through Friday. Pueyo, who serves as deputy spokesperson in parliament for the Sumar alliance, a minor partner in Spain’s minority left-wing coalition government, also called for Madrid to sever diplomatic and trade ties with Israel, impose a full arms embargo on Israel and promote the visibility of the Palestinian cause.

Citizens opposing the sale of Israel’s war bonds in Ireland held a protest on Friday under the banner, “Stop funding genocide.”
The demonstration was organized by the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC) in front of the Central Bank of Ireland building in Dublin.
Protesters said the Central Bank of Ireland’s approval of Israeli bonds was “unethical” and called for halting their sale across Europe according to Anadolu.
Ireland, which along with Norway and Spain recognized Palestine in May, is the home country of Israeli bonds sold in the EU, with the Central Bank of Ireland designated as the competent authority to approve prospectuses for the securities.
The bonds are said to have been used as a means to support Israel’s brutal war efforts in Gaza and Lebanon.
Independent senator Alice Mary Higgins, who attended the protest, told Anadolu that the Central Bank of Ireland’s support for Israel is a serious breach of international law.
Higgins said the bonds, previously sold through the UK, were taken over by Ireland after Brexit.
She said Ireland should “not be facilitator or accomplice” in the flow of money and arms.

Traditionally it has been Israel that exported hardware military equipment to India, however, Tel Aviv’s war on Gaza has turned things around. Now, it is India that is the main exporter of arms to Israel.
It continued with the 27-ton explosives shipment that India tried to send to Israel through Spanish ports last May. But today this relationship continues as India has become crucial in providing Israel with ammunition through joint deals between Israeli and Indian defence contracting companies.

The military relationship underscores the close ties that developed between India and Israeli under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Narendra Modi who become the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Israel and 2017.
Today India and Israel are regarded as key allies, underlined by the fact that the latter has become a huge destination for Indian tourists.
However, the ex-Israeli ambassador in New Delhi Daniel Carmon put the relation between the two countries in an overall context. He said India might be supplying weapons to Israel as a gesture of gratitude for Israel assistance during the Kargil war of 1999 as reported in the Quds News Network.

The comments of the former diplmat came amid reports confirming India has supplied drones and artillery shells to Israel during its ongoing war on Gaza, which international bodies like the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice have ruled as involving serious war crimes committed by Israel.
However despite the developing close relations India have always backed a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict when India established a PLO office in the country in the 1970s.
