The photo was taken in front of the Makhlouf family home when Abu Dayyeh came to escort the bride to the church and start the wedding ceremony. A depopulated Palestinian village located 5 kilometers west of Jerusalem, Deir Yassin was entered by Zionist military organizations on April 9, 1948, and a massacre was perpetrated in which 107 people of all ages and backgrounds were killed.
This massacre became known as the “Deir Yassin Massacre,” an act of extermination and mass expulsion carried out during the 1948 war by the Zionist organizations Irgun and Stern.
Jews settled in the village in 1980, rebuilding it on the ruins of the original buildings and naming its streets after the Irgun fighters who carried out the massacre.

CROSSFIREARABIA – Six Palestinians, including a child, were killed and 14 others wounded in the latest Israeli attack on a café in the fishermen’s port, west of Gaza City, Tuesday evening. The Health Ministry stated six martyrs and 14 others wounded and taken to Al-Shifa Hospital after Israeli warplanes targeting civilians on the Gaza beach cafe. Local sources reported the Israeli strikes at the café were so hard that people fell into the port basin and had to be rescued. Some of the injured remain in critical condition. The martyrs are: Ezz El-Din Salem Deeb, Jihad Muhammad Hamdi Al-Masri, Muhammad Hamdi Ahmed Al-Masri, Essam Muhammad Musa Murtaja, Muhammad Fathi Hussein Nasser, and Samed Samir Harb Abu Habel. This escalation comes as Israeli occupation forces continue to violate the “ceasefire” agreement with ongoing attacks throughout the Gaza Strip, amid a worsening humanitarian situation and escalating risks to the lives of civilians and displaced persons.

These tall, fortress-like houses are built primarily of locally quarried stone (often with thick lower walls for strength and defense). They feature rows of small arched or rectangular windows (sometimes with shutters), which provide light, ventilation, and limited views while maintaining privacy and security. The design is practical for the mountainous terrain: Vertical construction saves scarce flat land for agriculture, the height aids defense against raids, and the solid stone helps with temperature regulation in the highland climate.
