Israel Fears Hamas Ambushes in Gaza

The Palestinian resistance has begun to translate into reality the warnings issued by the Israeli occupation army, a few days ago, of the possible escalation of operations against its forces inside the Gaza Strip, according to military expert Major-General Fayez al-Duwairi.

Al-Duwairi explained on Al Jazeera the military operations in al-Tuffah area, east of Gaza City, the “Breaking the Sword” ambush east of Beit Hanoun, followed by another ambush in the same location falls within the context of these warnings.

He said the resistance is still able to survive because of the method of battle it is waging and adapting to the movements of the Israeli army. He noted the resistance forces “are not operationally offensive, but rather tactically offensive…”

Al-Duwairi’s statement comes after the Hamas al-Qassam Brigades, announced, Sunday, it detonated an anti-personnel bomb targeting a number of Israeli soldiers, confirming they were killed and wounded east of the al-Tuffah neighborhood.

As the Qassam Brigades announced the targeting of an Israeli Merkava 4 tank with an Al-Yassin 105 missile east of Tuffah, the Al-Quds Brigades of Islamic Jihad targeted a military barracks and a number of Israeli soldiers in a house with a guided missile.

The military expert emphasized the resistance factions maintain a high level of preparedness, “albeit varying from one battalion to another,” in his comment on the intensification of operations against the Israeli army.

According to Al-Duwairi, the new Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir came up with exaggerated expectations and an approximation of “zero losses,” based on the deployment of forces in the buffer zone and then a cautious and gradual advance under intense fire.

But, the resistance began targeting Israeli forces and vehicles with ambushes and anti-personnel and anti-tank missiles as the Israeli army began to deepen its incursion into built-up areas and their rubble.

A few days ago, the Israeli Walla news website quoted military sources as saying the Israeli army reinforced its defenses at its military positions in the area.

According to these sources, the army warns of a possible escalation of Hamas operations against its forces, as the movement’s militants are expected to launch guerrilla-style operations.

The Israeli army estimates, according to Walla, that Hamas is likely to launch targeted sniper attacks, ambushes, and other complex operations.

Quarter of Israelis Thought of Leaving in 2024

A quarter of Israelis thought about leaving the Zionist entity in 2024 according a latest Israeli study published on Friday.

“A new study confirmed that about a quarter of Israelis thought about leaving over the past year, against the backdrop of the deteriorating security situation in the country,” the Israeli Walla website reported.

The study by the Israeli Rubin Academic Center, stated “there is a relationship between the feeling of personal security and the desire to immigrate.”

About 31% of the participants in the study believe the security situation is the main factor in thinking about leaving, according to the same website.

While 46% of Israelis view those who plan to leave the entity negatively, the study shows that 24% of Israelis actually thought about leaving the entity in the past year, compared to only 18% two years ago.

The Hebrew website pointed out that the study was presented at a conference by the Ministry of Absorption and Immigration in coordination with the Rubin Academic Center, to discuss the impact of the security and economic situation on the desire of Israelis to leave the country.

Data from the new study showed that “more than a third of Israelis are thinking about leaving Israel due to various factors, most notably the security situation at 31%, and the economic situation at (28%).

While 40% of the study participants believed they would remain in the entity, claiming it is the “national homeland of the Jewish people,” 21% believe their proximity to family was a major factor in their decision to remain according to Jo24.

Netanyahu in Court on Corruption Trial

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appeared in court in Tel Aviv for the 4th time, Wednesday, to testify in his corruption trial.

Netanyahu’s hearing session was scheduled for Tuesday but was canceled after he embarked on a secret visit to Mount Hermon (Jabal al-Sheikh) in Syria’s demilitarized zone in the occupied Golan Heights.

According to the Israeli public broadcaster KAN, Netanyahu’s session on Wednesday is expected to focus on a case known as “4000” in which the prime minister is accused of providing regulatory favors to Shaul Elovitch, then-owner of Bezeq Telecom Company and the Walla news site, in exchange for favorable coverage for him and his wife.

Netanyahu, the first sitting Israeli leader to take the stand as a criminal defendant in the country’s history, faces accusations of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust, which he denies according to Anadolu.

Netanyahu also faces charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity, with the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing arrest warrants for him and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in November over atrocities in Gaza.

Rats Bite off Israeli Soldier’s Ear, Noes

In a shocking incident, two Israeli soldiers stationed at the “Ami’ad” military base in the occupied Galilee were bitten by rats on their noses and ears, leading to severe bleeding.

According to Yedioth Ahronoth, two soldiers in the “Ami’ad” military base in the occupied Galilee were shocked awake after being bitten by rats on their noses and ears as reported in the Quds News Network.

The newspaper noted the rats bit the soldiers until they bled in the camp located in northern occupied Palestine. The soldiers were then taken to a medical facility for treatment.

The father of one of the soldiers in the military unit told the Israeli daily: “The rats literally ate the soldiers, and it is shocking and disgraceful.”

“The images I saw this morning of soldiers with bleeding faces make me ashamed of the army’s failure to protect our most precious assets and I never imagined for a moment that my son could be harmed or be in danger because the army does not provide him with assistance or basic hygiene conditions,” he added.

This is not the first time the Israeli soldiers have been attacked by animals during the war. A few weeks ago, the Walla website reported that a soldier in the Israeli army, part of the 252nd Division occupying the Netzarim area in the Gaza Strip, said: “I was attacked by a group of dogs one of the times I went outside the shelter.”

The soldier pointed out that “generally, except for the change that happened in the last few weeks when they brought in large garbage containers, there were many cases of massive garbage accumulation, including food brought in large quantities by dogs, cats, and rats, among others.”

He continued, “Every time we asked for a solution to the health disaster, they – referring to the Israeli army leadership – would reply: We are taking care of it.” But in reality, the soldier said, someone would come to remove a pile of garbage and dig a hole to make room for more garbage.”

Additionally, other soldiers claim that there is a phenomenon of groups of stray dogs, which have not been vaccinated, with some of them attempting to attack soldiers “who were forced to use live ammunition to defend themselves.” In one case, soldiers saw a dog carrying a human skull.

Israeli reserve soldiers stated that there are no toilets in many places in the “corridor,” so soldiers in large settlements relieve themselves in bags or bottles.

Another soldier said, “This is one of the large settlement sites, think about the situation when you enter a site.”
