Israeli Army Forces Thousands Flee Khan Younis

Thousands of Palestinians are fleeing from the east of Khan Younis under heavy Israeli attacks.

They are running out of the city on foot and quickly while most of them don’t know where to go. These people are already displaced and have moved more than once.

The displacement of people – some say tens of thousands – is trending with video images.

“Why is this happening to us” a displaced woman hurriedly on the move with her children  from Khan Younis said.

“Look at the kids, they are holding toys, toys not rockets…” she’d added.

“What are these kids holding, are they holding rockets, you tell me, another one added.

The Israeli army says they are moving into the already destroyed city to look for Palestinian armed operatives but who are nowhere to be found.

Here, it is just women and plenty of little children on the move.

This is a surprise invasion that is being backed by Israeli warplanes who are firing at homes, places and people in the streets, on hospitals and those simply seeking to seek shelter and staying out of harms way.

But in the central regions of Gaza there are know safe areas. The new missiles and bombs have started people moving again mostly to the east of the Gaza Strip to Dier Al Balah which is already under Israeli attack.

Reports say there are 45 reported deaths in and around Khan Younis. Around 40 killed have been taken to the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis as well as around 150 injured.

Eyewitness reports say that the hospital halls are full with patients in corridors while most of those injured were shot in the head and chest with case of people whose intestines falling out of their stomach.

The scenes are harrowing. Meanwhile an Israeli drone targeted a journalists’ tent within the grounds of Shuhada’ Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir Al-Balah. The attack resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injured several others according to the Al Quds News Network.

Houthis Vow to Respond to Israeli Attacks on Al Hudaydah

The Yemeni Houthi Ansar Allah group, Saturday, vowed to respond to the Israeli airstrikes on the western part of the country.

The Israeli attack on Al Hudaydah “aims to exacerbate the suffering of the people and pressure Yemen to stop supporting Gaza,” Mohammed Abulsalam, the Houthi spokesman, said in a post on X according to Anadolu.

“We affirm that this brutal aggression will only increase the determination and steadfastness of the Yemeni people and their brave armed forces, continuing and escalating their support for Gaza,” added the spokesman.

Member of the Houthi Political Council Mohammed al-Houthi threatened his group would “plague” Israel as a response to the attacks on Port of Al Hudaydah.

The Houthi-affiliated Al-Masirah satellite channel reported casualties from the Israeli airstrikes on the coastal side of Yemen.

The strikes targeted oil storage facilities at the Al Hudaydah port, as well as a power plant  that provides electricity to the western governorate.

In an official statement, the Israeli military confirmed attacking targets in Yemen, claiming they are linked to the Houthis.

This is the first direct Israeli response to the recent Houthi Yafa drone attack on Tel Aviv, Friday,  that killed an ex-Israeli soldier and wounded at least 10 others.

The Israeli attacks against Al Hudaydah are as seen as historic, made for the first time by Israeli warplanes, traveling all the way from Tel Aviv to the Yemeni Port down the Red Sea, just before the Bab Al Mandeb Straits.

The Israeli attack made with the knowledged of the USA which subsequentely denied taking part in the raid was carried out by 20 Israeli jets which had to be refueled in mid-air because of the 1700 kilometer distance to Hudaydah according to the Israel Hayoum website.

The Houthis have been targeting ships that are Israeli-owned, flagged, operated, or headed to Israeli ports on the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden with missiles and drones in solidarity with Gaza, which has been under a devastating Israeli onslaught since 7 October last year, the Turkish news agency reported.

Israel Makes Life Unbearable For Palestinians – Here’s The Evidence!

In the first half of 2024, there has been a severe escalation of violence and human rights violations in the West Bank reports the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC). Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers, with over 1,000 displaced and nearly 160,000 adversely affected by demolitions.

The West Bank has experienced a significant surge in violence, resulting in 228 Palestinian fatalities, including 51 children, marking a 65 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2023. In five instances, it could not be determined whether the killings were committed by Israeli forces or by settlers.

“The data indicates that Israeli forces are deploying unwarranted use of lethal force against Palestinian civilians,” said Ana Povrzenic, NRC’s country director in Palestine. “We cannot separate the worsening conditions in the West Bank from the actions of senior Israeli officials aimed to establish sovereignty over the West Bank, in violation of international law.”

The number of search and arrest operations conducted by Israeli forces in the West Bank nearly doubled, rising to 3,384 in the first half of 2024 from 1,873 in the same period in 2023. Israeli authorities have intensified raids, particularly in Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams refugee camps, utilising military tactics and heavy weaponry against civilians, including airstrikes. These operations have led to the destruction of 81 structures and the displacement of 499 Palestinians in these areas alone.

“The Israeli army did not differentiate between a stone, a tree, or a human being,” said Nihaya al-Jundi, a resident of Nur Shams camp, where 242 Palestinians were displaced, and a youth centre, a kindergarten, and a multi-purpose hall were destroyed. “No person and no home are safe, not even those with the elderly, people with disabilities, or children.”

Israel’s unlawful demolition of Palestinian property has reached unprecedented levels. By 30 June 2024, 643 Palestinian structures had been destroyed, marking a 42 per cent increase from the same period in 2023. In most of these cases, Israel reports the structures lack Israeli-issued building permits, which are virtually impossible for Palestinians to obtain.

Settler attacks have also climbed, with 649 incidents recorded in the first half of 2024, compared to 598 in 2023. In Duma, a multi-hour settler attack on 13 April resulted in the destruction of homes and livelihood structures, Izzat Dawabshe, a Duma resident, described the event: “Anyone who defended himself in any way was shot or detained.”

Settlers destroyed four homes and damaged or burned 31 others during the attack on Duma. Settlers completely burned a dozen livelihood structures and damaged or burned three others.

“While some states have imposed sanctions against individual violent settlers, this has had limited impact in reducing rates of violence,” said Povrzenic. “States must do more to hold the state of Israel, its central and local governments, and security forces – not just individual offenders – accountable for grave breaches of international law.”

Half a Million Jews Left Israel Since 7 October

Since the beginning of the Israeli war on Gaza on 7 October, 2023, nearly half a million Israelis left the country according to data from the Israeli Population and Immigration Authority.

Israel’s Zman magazine reported that 470,000 Israelis have emigrated from Israel, and it remains uncertain if they will ever return to the Jewish country in the meduim term and/orin the future.

The figures are alarming. One in four Israelis is looking for a way to leave the country pointes out the Jewish People Policy Institute

As well, statistics show there has been a significant decline in the number of Jewish immigrants to Israel beginning early October, and dropping by about 50 percent compared to the beginning of 2023.

This low trand is continuing. At the end of last June the Population and Immigration Authority estimated that 370,000 people left Israel in the previous two months. They stood at 230,309 last October and 139,839 in November.

Before the Gaza war outbreak, approximately 600,000 Israelis traveled abroad for vacation. The figures now show that Israelis are going abroad and not coming back.
