Israeli Settlers Set Palestinian Agricultural Lands on Fire

CROSSFIREARABIA – Israeli settlers attacked Turmus Aya, north Ramallah, and set fire to the agricultural lands there. Local sources said a group of settlers, protected by the Israeli army descended on the village, Thursday night, and set the lands on fire there. The sources said the Israeli soldiers fired at the locals who tried to stand up to the settlers. Since 8 October, 2023 and via the Israeli army and settlers 1171 Palestinians were martyred and the injury of 12,666 in addition to the arrest of 23,000 and the displacement of 33,000 according to the Palestine Information Center.

Israel’s new Defense Minister, Israel Katz, issued a statement announcing the end of administrative detention orders against colonial settlers in the occupied West Bank, describing it as a “severe measure” against them.

Such arrest warrants are rare, but Katz, known for his far-right views, is the first defense minister to refuse issuing administrative detention orders for illegal settlers.

This decision has received support from far-right Israeli leaders such as Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir, despite further reinforcing the perception of unequal treatment between Israelis and Palestinians under Israeli occupation.
