400 Activists ‘Crash Gate’ US Congress to Stop Netanyahu From Speaking

CROSSFIREARABIA – About 400 Jewish-American activists are currently, Tuesday, inside one of the buildings of the US Congress in Capitol Hill protesting the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington.

Netanyahu is said to address both houses of Congress in a joint session on Wednesday. Already some Congressmen like Bernie Sanders said they would be boycotting the affair.

The activists want the US to stop arming Israel to carry on with its genocidal war in Gaza that is now in its 10th month.

With banners like “Let Gaza Live”  and “Jews Say Stop Arming Israel”, the activists are making their voices heard by chanting “free Palestine”, “not in our name” and “stop the genocide.”

They are being surrounded by a Capitol police force contingent.

Meanwhile Palestinian-American lawmaker Rashida Tlaib slammed Netanyahu’s visit as “utterly disgraceful”.

“Netanyahu is a war criminal committing genocide against the Palestinian people. It is utterly disgraceful that leaders from both parties have invited him to address Congress.

“He should be arrested and sent to the International Criminal Court,” she said according to Anadolu.

Tlaib said said the US has provided more than $141 billion in weapons to Israel to “fund the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians” since 1948, including $17.9 billion since October according to the Turkish news agency.

Israel Kills 84 Gazans in 24 Hours

The Israeli army killed 84 more Palestinians in attacks in the Gaza Strip, taking the overall death toll to 39,090 since last 7 October, 2023, the Health Ministry in the enclave said on Tuesday as reported by Anadolu.

A ministry statement added that some 90,147 others have been injured in the assault.

“Israeli forces killed 84 people and injured 329 others in eight ‘massacres’ against families in the last 24 hours,” the ministry said, noting that 73 of them were killed in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

“Many people are still trapped under rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them,” it added.

Flouting a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire, Israel has faced international condemnation amid its continued brutal offensive on Gaza since an Oct. 7, 2023 attack by Palestinian group Hamas.

Over nine months into the Israeli war, vast tracts of Gaza lie in ruins amid a crippling blockade of food, clean water, and medicine.

Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, whose latest ruling ordered Tel Aviv to immediately halt its military operation in the southern city of Rafah, where over a million Palestinians had sought refuge from the war before it was invaded on May 6, the Turkish news agency reported.

US Jewish Doctor Recounts Gaza “Horror” Trip

Mark Perlmutter, a Jewish-American humanitarian surgeon who spent two weeks in the Gaza Strip, said that Palestinian children were being shot by Israeli snipers in Gaza.

Perlmutter, an orthopedic surgeon from North Carolina, and vice president of the International College of Surgeons, volunteered in Gaza from the end of April through the first half of May as reported by Al Quds News Network.

In an interview with CBS News published on Sunday, Perlmutter was asked to describe what he witnessed in Gaza.

He replied, “All of the disasters I’ve seen, combined – 40 mission trips, 30 years, Ground Zero, earthquakes, all of that combined – doesn’t equal the level of carnage that I saw against civilians in just my first week in Gaza.”

And the civilian casualties, he said, are almost exclusively children. “I’ve never seen that before,” he said. “I’ve seen more incinerated children than I’ve ever seen in my entire life, combined. I’ve seen more shredded children in just the first week … missing body parts, being crushed by buildings, the greatest majority, or bomb explosions, the next greatest majority.”

“We’ve taken shrapnel as big as my thumb out of eight-year-olds. And then there’s sniper bullets. I have children that were shot twice.”

“You’re saying that children in Gaza are being shot by snipers?” asked Tracy Smith, the interviewer.

“Definitively,” said Perlmutter. “I have two children that I have photographs of that were shot so perfectly in the chest, I couldn’t put my stethoscope over their heart more accurately, and directly on the side of the head, in the same child. No toddler gets shot twice by mistake by the ‘world’s best sniper.’ And they’re dead-center shots.”

And what about the emotional wounds? “How can you measure that? I can’t measure my own,” Perlmutter said. “How do you be an orphan, watching your family, you know, melted in front of you and shredded in front of you – how do you fix that, ever fix that?”

Perlmutter also noted that he saw, for dozens of miles, 18-wheelers parked bumper-to-bumper, their engines off or idling, outside of Gaza. “Food or health care could not get in,” he said.

“How many kids are in danger of starvation in Gaza?” Perlmutter was asked.

“All of them,” he replied. “Absolutely all of them.”

Israeli Army Shoots At UN Convoy – UNRWA Chief

The UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini posted on his official X account of heavy shooting from the Israeli Forces at a UN convoy heading to Gaza City.

“While there are no casualties, our teams had to duck and take cover.

This took place yesterday and the teams were traveling in clearly marked UN armoured cars and wearing UN vests,” Lazzarini stated.

“One vehicle received at least five bullets while waiting just ahead of the Israeli Forces’ checkpoint south of Wadi Gaza.

The car was severely damaged, it left the convoy. The teams re-assembled and finally reached Gaza City.”

Like all other similar UN movements, this movement was coordinated and approved by the Israeli Authorities.

Humanitarian aid workers are #NOTaTarget Those responsible must be held accountable, his post added.
