Why is Israel Jailing Gazan Doctors?

The Palestinian Center for Prisoners’ Rights stated that the occupation continues to hold 24 doctors from Gaza under extremely dire humanitarian conditions.

The detained doctors were subjected to brutal, systematic, and deliberate abuse, which led to the death of Dr. Adnan Al-Borsh and Dr. Eyad Al-Rantisi due to severe torture. The Center called on:

The World Health Organization and the United Nations to act urgently to secure the immediate release of the Palestinian doctors from Israeli prisons.

Reports from the UN and human rights organizations such as Physicians for Human Rights and Human Rights Watch have documented cases of torture, violence, and psychological abuse against health workers during detention.

Gaza is Being Starved

All of Gaza is being starved by the Israeli occupation.

The UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stated that: The famine in Gaza is the result of a deliberate attempt to replace the UN System of distribution with the so-called “Gaza humanitarian mechanism”.

The current aid mechanism is politically driven and is responsible for the deaths of around 1,400 starving people in Gaza. The situation has worsened as UNRWA has been prevented from bringing any aid into Gaza for the past five months.

The marginalization and weakening of UNRWA has nothing to do with allegations of aid being diverted to armed groups. The deliberate weakening of UNRWA is aimed at exerting collective pressure and punishing Palestinians simply for remaining in Gaza.

Al Jazeera: Price For Press Freedom

Israeli occupation forces raided Al Jazeera’s office in Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank, shortly after midnight.

They extended the office’s closure for an additional 60 days and posted a military order at the entrance.

Last September, the army also stormed Al Jazeera’s office under a military order, handed the staff a closure notice, confiscated all equipment and documents, and barred the employees from using their vehicles.
