Jordan Army Foils Drone Laden With Drugs

The Southern Military Zone on Friday evening thwarted a drug smuggling attempt involving a drone along the western frontier within its area of responsibility.

The Border Guards, in cooperation with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, applied the rules of engagement after detecting and tracking the drone and brought it down inside Jordanian territory, according to a military source from the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF).

An army statement stressed that JAF remains committed to utilising its various capabilities and resources to prevent all forms of infiltration and smuggling, ensuring the security and stability of the Kingdom.

According to a recent statement to The Jordan Times, the Military Media Directorate said that there has been a noticeable shift in smuggling activities towards the southern borders of the Kingdom.

“The reasons behind this shift are multifaceted, rooted in a combination of rigorous security measures, regional instability, and the ingenuity of the criminal networks involved in drug trafficking,” the directorate added.

“In response to this evolving threat, the JAF has deployed a combination of high-tech solutions and strategic military initiatives, including the use of advanced surveillance technologies such as drones and satellite systems to monitor remote border areas, allowing the military to detect smuggling attempts in real time.”

The death toll in the Los Angeles wildfires has climbed to 16 as the relentless blazes continue to rage for a fifth consecutive day, authorities said.

At least four wildfires are still burning across the Los Angeles County.

The fires have burned 40,000 acres by Saturday, destroyed more than 12,000 structures and over 150,000 people are under evacuation order.

Al-Falahi: Continual Rockets Confirms Israel’s Military Failure

In his military analysis of developments in Gaza Strip, strategic expert Colonel Hatem Al-Falahi, confirms the continual rocket fire from the Gaza Strip reflects the total failure of the Israeli military strategy, despite its unlimited international support.

He was commenting on the sirens in the Kerem Abu Salem area and Sderot and its surroundings, following the launch of Palestinian resistance rockets from the southern Gaza Strip.

Al-Falahi explained these rockets continue within the context of the ongoing Doha negotiations.

The military expert pointed out the continued firing of rockets after more than 15 months of war confirms that Hamas still possesses great military capabilities. He explained this sends a clear message that the resistance forces are preparing themselves for a long-time battle.

With regard to the military operations in the northern Gaza Strip, Al-Falahi stressed on Al Jazeera the continuation of the resistance there, despite the Israeli operation for the last 100 days, proves Israel’s failure to achieve its military goals.

He added the war, despite the great capabilities available to the Israeli occupation army and American and Western support, is unable to break the will of the Palestinian resistance.

A hotbed of depletion

Al-Falahi explained that the northern areas, especially Jabalia and Beit Hanoun, have turned into a “great hotbed of depletion” for the Israeli army.

He pointed to the great developments in the resistance factions’ strategies, as they began to benefit from the unexploded missiles and bombs of the Israeli army whilst employing them in their confrontation operations.

In his assessment of the general military situation, the military expert warned the goals that the Israeli army was unable to achieve in the past period will not be realized as the war extends further.

He especially pointed to the resistance success in retaining the Israeli prisoners, despite the huge capabilities and intelligence gathering available to the occupation army.

Al-Falahi stressed that the confrontations in Gaza have become “highly qualitative and bloody” due to the development of the resistance’s methods, pointing to the ability of the Palestinian factions to adapt to the various circumstances of battle, especially in the areas of the northern Gaza Strip according to Jo.24

Gaza Genocide Results in 4500 Amputations

A senior health official in Gaza has announced that the Health Ministry documented 4,500 amputations, including upper and lower limbs, since the beginning of the Israel’s genocide in the besieged enclave.

“We have recorded 4,500 amputation cases by the end of 2024, as a result of the continuous Israeli airstrikes and ground attacks on Gaza,” Zaher al Wahidi, the head of the Health Information Unit at the ministry, said in a statement on Friday.

He reported that about 800 of the amputees were children, making up 18 percent of the cases, while 540 women accounted for 12 percent of the amputations.

Wahidi stressed that the figures reveal the enormity of the humanitarian catastrophe facing the civilian population, particularly the most vulnerable groups — children and women.

Live blog: Gaza death toll rises over 46,500 amid Israel’s genocidal war

He added that the number of amputations will likely continue to rise as the genocidal war persists, exacerbating the already dire strain on the health care system which is grappling with critical shortages of medical supplies due to the blockade that has been imposed for more than 18 years.

Since the Israeli war began in October 2023, the Israeli army has deliberately targeted health care facilities, bombing hospitals and forcing evacuations while blocking essential medical supplies, particularly in the north, which has been heavily attacked since October 5.

Wahidi urgently called for international support to address the worsening crisis, demanding immediate action to halt Israeli violations and protecting the civilian population.

‘Largest group of child amputees in modern history’

In response to the escalating number of amputations among children, Lisa Dutton, an official at the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), said in October that Gaza had become “home to the largest group of child amputees in modern history.”

The Israeli army has continued its genocidal war on Gaza that has killed more than 46,000 victims, mostly women and children, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants in November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes again st humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
